The new collection from Alexandra Grecco is an ode to the balance of softness and structure.
New Alexandra Grecco is coming! We are so excited for Three Graces, the latest collection from Alexandra Grecco, to arrive to our shops. An ode to the Graces, a mythological trio of goddesses in whom charm, beauty, nature, and creativity was deified – the collection is a tribute to classical sculpture and inspired by Grecco’s three children.
A word from the designer: “Our Three Graces Collection is a tribute to the beauty and quiet stillness of classical sculpture and romantic draping frozen in time. I was inspired by an afternoon spent at The Met with my three young children late last year. The warm golden-hour light [casted] a cinematic glow as my daughter and twin boys posed like the statues surrounding them, their laughter echoing throughout the space. Their vitality, their motion, the softness of their faces, was juxtaposed against the timelessness and stillness of the marble. This contrast, and the balance of opposing ideas, motion and stillness, flesh and stone, stuck with me, and eventually led to the core theme woven throughout the collection.
“A few weeks later, on a trip to Paris, I came across a sculpture of three women, entwined together in a warm embrace. Their energy was light and playful, their expressions embodying friendship. Their bond reminded me of the one my children share. This collection celebrates the balance of softness and structure, existing together in harmony. The poetic movement and rich dimensional folds of our draping complement the internal structure on which each gown is built. Our translucent silk chiffon layers play delightfully with our tailored fabrications, providing an ethereal softness. Layers of lightweight silks create the illusion of volume while still being refined.”
