It’s the most wonderful time of the year! And, by that we mean engagement season has officially arrived. We love seeing new bridal babes posting their engagement rings on Instagram, and we especially enjoy hearing each and every one of your engagement stories during your Lovely Bride appointments. To celebrate the season (and offer a serious dose of sparkly inspiration), we thought we would share the top 10 engagement ring styles we’re expecting to trend in 2019.

1. Solitaire Setting

It’s impossible to go wrong with a solitaire ring setting, especially when it’s created by Consider The Wldflwers or Vrai & Oro! These rings typically include one focal stone. As a result, they always have a timeless, chic feel to them, which makes solitaire rings the perfect piece for classic brides. With that said, a great designer can transform a classic solitaire piece into one with a much more modern feel by swapping the band out in favor of one that is thinner to offer a minimalist vibe.

2. Colored Stones

We think the popularity of colored stones debuted with Princess Diana’s blue sapphire ring and experienced a complete resurgence when the ring reappeared on Kate Middleton’s finger after her engagement to Prince William. By opting for sapphires in shades of peach and red, emeralds in brilliant shades of green, and black diamonds, designers, like Marrow Fine, Mociun, and Catbird, have branched out from blue hues to create unique pieces with eye-catching pops of color.

3. Stackable Settings

An engagement ring feels like the start to the ultimate ring stack, and designers, like Consider The Wldflwrs and Marrow Fine, are embracing the trend. Now, engagement rings feature stones in various shapes (think: pear, round, oval, rectangle, and even octagon) that are meant to be paired with arched bands on your wedding day. There are even rings complete with interlocking designs. The stack is here to stay, and now it feels much more modern than a simple engagement and wedding ring pairing.

4. Clustered Settings

In order to add interest to engagement ring designs, clustered settings have become one of the biggest trends. We expect this style to continue well into 2019, thanks to the growing popularity of designs by Catbird, Heidi Gibson, and Marrow Fine. Sometimes one stone is flanked on either side by additional stones. In other settings, baguette diamonds encircle the main stone. Regardless, the result is stunning!

5. Pear Cut

No longer are diamonds solely round! Now, pear shaped diamonds have taken on a popularity of their own (hint: Marrow Fine, Heidi Gibson, and Vrai & Oro!). The shape is different and more fashion forward than a classic solitaire, and pear cut diamonds also offer an easy opportunity to create a ring stack with wedding and “just because” bands down the line.

6. Vintage Inspired

Vintage is not just for heirlooms! Jewelry designers are looking to engagement ring styles from years past and bringing them back to trend once more. Heidi Gibson is known for her love for vintage inspired pieces, which is how she finds the majority of her inspiration. Many of Heidi’s rings feature a diamond encircled by baguettes, and she has even named many of her rings after “The Great Gatsby”. What’s old is new once again!

7. Custom

A dress designer’s creativity can soar when they’re asked to create a custom piece just for you, and a jewelry designer feels the same way when they can create a custom engagement ring! There is definitely a trend that leans toward custom as more couples wish to have pieces completely unique to them. The design process is also part of the experience! When else will you be able to walk through each step and watch as a ring goes from a concept into an actual piece?

8. East-West Setting

It’s amazing how much an engagement ring can transform with something as simple as a new orientation, like the one above by Consider The Wldflwrs! If a stone is not round, most often

they have a north-south setting, which means the stone points vertically. However, the latest trend is the east-west setting in which the stone is turned horizontally so it crosses over your ring finger. The slight change creates such a cool, modern feel, and we think this trend will become a timeless classic.

9. Split Shank

The “shank” on a ring is a fancy way of talking about the band, and split shanks are now trending. Marrow Fine’s design, The Winter Rose Engagement Ring, is a great example. The gorgeous stone sits in between two bands that look like an amazing stack. Then the wedding band, which is split, is added to encircle the stone. It’s the coolest look!

10. Minimalist Bands

If thick bands are not quite your thing, we have you covered! Minimalist bands are trending, and we don’t expect them to stop any time soon. Jewelry designers, like Marrow Fine and Catbird, have nailed this look as they create engagement rings that pair beautiful stones together with delicate bands. If you don’t love wearing jewelry and tend to favor “less is more” looks, especially on your hands, this minimalist look is for you.

We need to know which 2019 engagement ring trend you’re loving the most! Does your ring match one of these styles? Which jewelry designer is your favorite? Cheers to 2019 weddings!
