We’ll never get over seeing photos of Our Lovelies wedding days. There’s something so magical about watching the vision all come together. Jamie and Andrew’s wedding was no exception. Keep reading to find out the couple’s first dance song (hint: it has something to do with Queen B) and how Jamie said ‘yes’ to Andrew’s rooftop proposal that sounds like it’s straight out of a NYC rom-com. Congratulations, you two!
Tell us about you and Andrew as a couple
Andrew and I are very different. The saying ‘opposites attract’ couldn’t be more true for us. He is a planner and a very logical thinker…he loves schedules and he makes smart decisive decisions. I am the creative. Making plans gives me hives and I have to ‘feel’ my way through every decision. But somehow we work. The things I struggle with, Andrew is so good at and enjoys doing and vice versa. We fill in each other’s gaps and compliment each other really well. He makes me laugh more than anyone I have ever known; we just like being around each other so much. If we had to pack for a deserted island I would take him and chapstick. He would take me and probably peanut butter cups.
How did he propose?
He proposed to me on April 26th on our rooftop covered in flowers and a million candles and string lights at sunset. I came home so late from work so poor Andrew had to blow out and re-light the candles about three times waiting for me. After a very stressful day at work he had to work extra hard to convince me to come to the rooftop to get a little fresh air…I definitely made him work for it. He had painted a giant tarp, that you could probably see from space with the words, ‘Will you forever with me?’ and when he got down on one knee and we both burst into tears. A few neighboring groups of people from rooftops in the distance all started cheering. A very magical New York memory…

How did you know your Alexandra Grecco ‘Stevie’ gown was the one?
It was so different than anything I tried on. It wasn’t what I described to my consultant at all and she brought it in after I had decided against all the ones I had picked out and imagined I would love. It was effortless and flowy, which made it feel perfect for a beach wedding. It was timeless from the front like I wanted it to be, but with these unexpected little details in the back that made it feel so special and unique. I felt so comfortable and happy in the dress from the second I put it on.
Tell us about your experience at Lovely Bride NYC.
I had the most amazing consultants both times I was in there. I worked with Kelsey and she made me feel like I was Gigi Hadid. You are in the dressing room naked and a little nervous and she complimented in all the right ways, she pushed me to try on styles I never would have tried myself (including the Stevie) and just gave really candid feedback. I also was in LOVE with the skylit back area where we tried the dresses on. It was so inspiring and romantic back there and it really created the moment and made it feel really special.
Describe your wedding Vision.
I wanted it barefoot, bohemian and romantic with lots of wild greens, beautiful ranunculus and garden roses and a smaller group of our favorite people. We wanted it to feel like an expression of our style, so we flew a bunch of rugs in from Morocco and lined the aisle with them. My brother officiated the ceremony and we each had 3 maids of honor and 3 best men with no other wedding party. We also wanted really memorable special touches, like a donkey named Leche decked out in flowers, popsicles and fresh coconuts for cocktail hour and late night tacos from our favorite guy in town. We were a little unconventional in some of our requests but the day couldn’t have felt more perfect for us.
How did you choose your wedding location?
We had discovered Sayulita a few years back on a Yoga retreat. It was this sweet little surf town and we both immediately fell in love. It was before we were engaged or really talking a lot about getting married but it was really clear to both of us that this place was the one when the time came. It felt like an undiscovered little gem filled with color and pom poms. He is from Michigan, I am from Minnesota and we live in New York, so it was going to be a destination for most people regardless so we figured why not make it an amazing one that people have never been.
What was your wedding song?
Beyonce – Die with you
LOVE your bridesmaid dresses, how did you pick the mustard color?
I had a season of 9 weddings a couple years ago and I saw so much of the traditional colors and I wanted them to feel like something you don’t typically see for a wedding. My three best friends were all my maids of honor and I wanted to to pick something that would compliment their totally different coloring but also feel warm and relaxed.
What will you remember most about your wedding in 10 years?
I think what we will remember is walking into our welcome cocktail party that first night, and having all of YOUR favorite people in one space. It was this overwhelming feeling knowing that they all invested their time and money to fly to another country to celebrate with you. Everywhere you looked… it was this feeling of ‘I can’t wait to go talk to that person, and that person, and THAT person!’ We both just felt so loved and supported that weekend. We just wish we could do it all over again.
