Real Wedding: Nicole + Chris
Tell us about the dress and what inspired your look.
I stumbled across Anna Campbell while looking on Pinterest a few months into wedding planning. After stalking her site and finding that the Lovely stores in Philly and NYC would soon be stocked, I couldn’t wait to try them. Her dresses were the perfect mix of bohemian/ethereal/vintage that I was imagining for our beach wedding. The first weekend they were in the NYC store, I got the last appointment, headed up and fell in love with them all, but the “Miranda” was unlike anything I had ever seen with all the embellishments and the lace and the back!
What were the most important details to pulling off your dream wedding?
We had always known we wanted a destination wedding since Chris’ family is from Minnesota and mine are all in Pennsylvania. We just wanted to have our friends and family around us and have a relaxed memorable day/weekend. It was hard to reel myself away from Pinterest and Etsy and just pick a few things to focus on to make special. You really get flooded with ideas and it can be overwhelming. We already had a gorgeous setting and we were lucky there was not much else to add. But the poof backdrop (which involved a puff party in our hotel room the day before) was one of my favorite DIY details, I loved the bright colors.
What was the most memorable moment?
Walking down the aisle and seeing how beautiful everything came together. I was just full of love and happiness and surrounded by our best friends and family on such a beautiful day. I could not have asked for a better day. Also, two days after the wedding we drove to a private cenote near Tulum and did an unforgettable Trash the Dress session (which I think is very popular in Mexico given the cenotes and beaches). It was not the easiest going underwater with no air (as to not be buoyant) and in a gown and I felt like a drowning blowfish but somehow they turned out really beautiful and was an experience we will not forget!
If you could give future brides any advice, what would it be?
Don’t drive yourself crazy with Pinterest and Etsy, you can search and pin forever! Try and enjoy yourself as much as possible and everything will work out. Just enjoy the day with your loved ones and soak it all in. It goes by fast!
